In their June edition, Incobs tested Scan2Voice.
The consumer advice organization came to the following conclusion (translated from German):
The system is ideally suited to mobile applications (such as those using a notebook), thanks to its small and light weight camera. The combination of zoom and optical character recognition (OCR) is the unique selling point of Scan2Voice. If you want to use both these features, you will not be disappointed. We were particularly convinced by the read aloud functionality during our tests.

Scan2Voice, the foldable, high-speed scanner has just been updated to include a new stylish design and a number of innovative features, which make it even easier to use.
For extremely sharp focus in any of the scanner's forty zoom positions, an auto-focus module has been added to the camera. This automatically sets the focus to the sharpest setting, without the end-user having to manually intervene.
Thanks to the automatic reading function and the recognition of a document's orientation, Scan2Voice is not only suited to people with a seeing disability, but also to blind people with basic PC experience.
In addition to false colors and contrast enhancement, a gentle color filter for dyslexia has been added to the software. This relaxes the eye and thus makes reading easier.
Furthermore, the number of voices supported by Scan2Voice has been increased. In addition to German, English, Spanish and Italian, French and several Scandinavian languages have been added.

Scan2Voice can be used in the workplace, at school and university, or at home as an aid to read text and view images. Within a matter of seconds, the system can also be set up to capture images of blackboards in school and university lecture theaters. The resulting images can be saved as one or more PDF files, thus documenting and archiving the content of the lesson or lecture.
The Scan2Voice system consists of a lightweight, portable, foldable camera scanner and a software application, which offers a powerful magnifying glass function (live image), OCR (ABBY Fine Reader), e-mail integration and text editor with voice output.
A page in letter format can be scanned in less than 1 second. Books, newspapers and the entire content of folders can be thus quickly scanned. The text on these pages can be converted to editable text and saved as a PDF or Word file. Using the integrated voice output, the software can read aloud texts and even convert entire books into one or more WAV files, thus allowing the creation of audio books.
